Description: This session will focus on how Simulation results compare to hand calculation and physical testing. We’ll have fun exploring 3 real world examples and replicate the physics inside SOLIDWORKS. Users will walk away with a deeper understanding of what simulation can do for their design, and with more confidence that they can perform some design validation themselves.

Description: SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard is the new document management tool that was released with SOLIDWORKS 2016. SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard replaces SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM, which is set to be discontinued in the 2018 release. Designing Plastic Parts? Learn Injection Mold Simulation »

Description: In this session, Tim will showcase how anyone involved with injection molded parts can benefit from plastic injection simulation.  Attendees will learn best practices for incorporating plastic simulations early in the part design process to understand the impact different geometries have on manufacturability, and part quality. You’ll see how plastics can be used to design better injection mold tools and assist in determining idea injection molding process parameters.  Leaving the session you will have an in-depth understanding of plastics capabilities as well as how it reduces risk and improves part quality.

Who Should Attend? Specifically plastic part designers, mold makers and plastics injection molders, or anyone interested in learning how plastic injection simulation improves part quality and reduces risk.

Tim is an NDSU graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering who’s been immersed in the world of SOLIDWORKS for over 14 years working for Symmetry Solutions. Tim is a recipient of the Elite AE award winner demonstrating ability in all products (highest level of technical achievement). Andy graduated from UW Stout with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.  After college he spent  4 years as a Mechanical Engineer in the packaging industry gaining valuable experience working with assemblies in SOLIDWORKS of over 20,000 components.  He is currently a Pre-Sales Applications Engineer at Symmetry Solutions who has been using SOLIDWORKS for 10+ years.  He has a strong passion for anything SOLIDWORKS and is always up for a good challenge.

Description: Learn from our panel of experts how they overcome some of the challenges of installation, implementation and maintenance of tools in the SOLIDWORKS Suite of products in a multiuser environment. Each member of the panel will share a tip or two they use to successfully overcome administrative challenges they have encountered in their vast experience. We will then have a brief session where you can ask the experts and connect with other admins that may face similar trials.

Who Should Attend? Anyone directly involved installing, implementing or maintaining SOLIDWORKS solution products.

Rob Jensen, CAD Admin Designer, Bosch Automotive
Rob Jensen is a CAD Admin/Designer at Bosch Automotive in Owatonna, MN.  He has been a SOLIDWORKS user since 1998 and a PDM admin/user since 2012. BOSCH currently has approximate 150 PDM users with 7 replicated servers located in the US and Europe that Rob maintains.  In his spare time, Rob enjoys playing golf, hunting and fishing.

Jason Detzel, CAD/CAM Applications Analyst, 3M Company
Many companies spend significant levels of energy and expense on attracting the most competent and well trained Scientists and Engineers. However, once the employee has been hired, they are oftentimes given rather limited support in acquiring software tools or services. The effort to acquire, purchase, install and maintain software or get training --- can reduce their productivity dramatically. Jason consults with engineering departments and laboratories around the world to acquire the software tools needed to make them productive. Jason has a degree in Manufacturing Technology from Lake Superior College in Duluth, MN.

Gary Schultze, Director of Engineering and New Product Development, Regalo International
Gary Schultze has been a Principle Mechanical Designer and CAD Administrator for over 25 years.  He has worked with Solidworks since the 1st release in 1995, and has used both DBworks and PDM.  He has been responsible for many processes and procedures regarding PDM and engineering systems.  Gary is currently the Director of Engineering at Regalo International and also serves as the Vice President of the MN Solidworks User Group.

Tony Cavegn, Technical Manager, Symmetry Solutions, Inc.
Tony has been with Symmetry Solutions for 9 years and has been working with SOLIDWORKS for 12 years. While with Symmetry Solutions, Tony has worked as a support tech, instructor and presales application engineer. In his currently role as Technical Manager, he guides the support, training and implementation teams at Symmetry Solutions.

Paul currently works as an Application Engineer at SolidCAM USA. He provides SolidCAM customers with software support, training and demonstrations. 

Steve Welch - SolidCAM Assistant Sales Manager - has been helping customers and prospects with CAD/CAM solutions for over 10 years and has been involved with SolidCAM software the entire time. First working for a SolidCAM reseller for 5 years and then coming to work for them directly. Steve has dedicated his career on finding the best, most cost effective solutions for his customers in order to help them get their job done more efficiently and profitably

Paul Wick - SolidCAM Senior Regional Account Manager - is a degreed Mechanical Engineer from North Dakota State University. Paul has many years of experience in the design and manufacturing field. Paul developed a deep interest in the power of 3D Design and Manufacturing software and what it could do for a company to improve the bottom line. After several years of working with this new technology to help put product out the back door for several companies, he accepted a position to work with many companies helping them purchase, implement, and attain their success with SOLIDWORKS. He worked very hard to establish and service a very large customer base throughout the Dakotas and Minnesota for several years. Paul transitioned from 3D Design software to working with SolidCAM which is a SW Gold Partner Manufacturing Solution. One of Paul’s biggest passions is feeling like he is helping companies improve their processes and learning new technologies to help them grow their business, increase profits, and make things easier for the end user. Paul enjoys feeling like he is part of the manufacturing team for each customer and is there to help them achieve their goals.
